According to the Native American calendar, May is the month of the calves…the buffalo/bison calves to be precise. Well, our herd must have read the calendar. On May 9th the first calf of the year made her appearance. At first, it appeared to be a good sized bull calf but now upon closer observation he is actually a heifer. So I guess the name will change from Victor to Victory. This is the first time that Peter the Great, our 2,500 lb bull, has not given us an equal split of genders.
We are trying to determine good names for the other two heifers. Unfortunately, the third calf’s cow is shy and keeps her calf away far from camera view and being born on May 12th, she is the smallest of the trio.
Please feel free to suggest some names for the new calves.
